Shri. Rangalal Halder, President, ANTCC and Shri. TSG Bhasker, Chairman, Campaign Committee, ANTCC along with all Senior leaders of the Congress Party has condoled the sad demise of Shri. Abdul Mutlib, R/o Aberdeen Bazaar, Father of Shri. Abdul Islam, PBMC Councillor Ward No 04 who passed away on Tuesday at GB Pant Hospital.

Shri. Halder and Shri. Bhasker conveyed heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the bereaved members of the family to bear this irreparable loss.

Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member BJP & Former State President BJP-ANI has deeply mourned the sad demise of Shri Abdul Muttalib, Father of Shri Abdul Islam, Councillor Ward No. 04 R/o Dignabad, Port Blair, who left for heavenly abode on 31-10-2023 at G.B. Pant Hospital. Shri Jolly prayed to the Almighty for the eternal peace of the departed soul and to give strength to his bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.

Port Blair, Oct. 30: The Tourism Department as an initiative to promote, foster sustainable and responsible tourism practices with a   commitment towards preserving the environment and supporting local communities will be organising a comprehensive awareness and sensitization program for tourism stakeholders, unemployed youth/candidates on 2nd November, 2023 in the Committee Hall, Murugan Temple, Shaheed Dweep.  

Port Blair, Oct. 30: The Vigilance Awareness Week observance commenced in A&N Islands today with the theme ‘Say no to Corruption; Commit to the Nation’. As part of the observance, the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, administered the ‘Integrity Pledge’ to the Officers and staff of Secretariat today. The ‘Integrity Pledge’ was also administered to officers and staff of various Departments functioning under A&N Administration. 

Port Blair, Oct. 30: As per the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 and the rules framed thereunder, every person/firm having any weight or measure in his possession and intending to use such weight or measure in any commercial transaction should get such weights or measure verified and stamped before putting such weight or measure into use.

With the ensuing festive season, a usual trend in increase in the purchase of gold jewellery, precious items and sweets & savouries by the consumers is witnessed throughout this UT.  Hence, all the Jewellers, Bakeries, Sweet Shops and other concerned establishments in this UT have been advised to get their weights and measures verified and stamped by the Legal Metrology Section of the Department of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs.
